JEANNETTE PUBLIC LIBRARY BUYING NEW LAPTOPS

The Jeannette Public Library is buying 30 new laptops to help guests sharpen their computer skills.  A 50-thousand-dollar grant from the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County is funding the purchase.  The laptops will be set up with software that will guide users through various tasks that can be done on computers like printing documents, applying for a job and more.  Operators of the library say they decided to take this approach to tech learning after finding that the small staff could not keep up with very frequent requests for computer help.
