IT’S BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE EXPLOSION AT U.S. STEEL’S CLAIRTON COKE WORKS

It has been just over a year since an explosion at U.S. Steel’s Clairton Coke Works took the lives of two workers and left nearly a dozen others hurt.  Company officials and leaders with the United Steelworkers held a moment of silence at the plant yesterday in memory of Timothy Quinn and Steven Menefee.  The men were killed when a valve failed and caused a catastrophic explosion at Battery number 13.  U.S. Steel employees spent yesterday going over safety procedures and reflecting on the co-workers who were lost.
