The start of school has been delayed in the Monessen City School District until September 8th. The Trib reports that the district announced Saturday that fungal growth was found in building materials that took on water damage at the junior and senior high building. The delay from August 25th to September 8th is being put in place “as a precautionary measure to complete necessary building maintenance and ensure a safe, fully prepared environment for our students and staff.” according to a statement from Superintendent Robert Motte.
