NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH OFFICE REPORTS RECORD NUMBER OF TORNADOES THIS YEAR

The National Weather Service Pittsburgh office is reporting a record number of tornadoes this year.  An EF-Zero spawned in Armstrong County this past Sunday, which makes the total annual tornado number 30 for the Pittsburgh office coverage area, breaking the record of 29 set in 2024.  Western Pennsylvania has seen 24 twisters so far this year, excluding those confirmed in West Virginia and Ohio.  The average annual number for the region is 10.
