Ligonier Valley Police have charged a Jeannette contractor who reportedly took thousands of dollars for a painting job and never performed the work. The Trib reports 36-year-old Zachary Murphy, the owner of Keltic Contracting, was hired for a painting job at a multi-unit Ligonier building in May, and given a $1500 down payment. Police said Murphy requested an additional $3800 on may 31st, one day before work was to start. The owner also provided police with a string of text messages from Murphy presenting various reasons why the work had not started, according to a criminal complaint. A preliminary hearing is set for August 21st.
