A state inspection conducted last fall at Westmoreland County Prison found seven minor infractions, but prison board officials say it was unrelated to this month’s firing of the Prison Warden. The Trib reports that Commissioners and the other members of the prison board last week voted to fire Warden Steve Pelesky, citing only “employment issues” as the reason for his termination. County officials confirmed a state inspection was conducted Nov. 5 but revealed no ongoing issues. Those findings included three security issues, two involving sanitation concerns and one each that pertained to housing and food safety, but none was a major concern.
