TWO IN VANDERGRIFT FACE CRIMINAL COUNTS FOR ANIMAL NEGLECT

Two people in Vandergrift are facing criminal counts months after a starving dog was reportedly found at their home. Patrick Hepler and Cynthia Dollman are both charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and additional counts. Vandergrift police began an investigation last year after a Jack Russell terrier mix Hepler owned was found to be starving, with its rib, hip, and spinal bones visible. The dog was euthanized last October after failing to respond to medical treatment and was later found to be suffering from renal disease. Experts say the pet’s condition was consistent with severe neglect.
