EXCELA HEALTH PUTS FITNESS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Thinking spinrg? Excela Health offers a variety of classes that improve the mind, body and spirit and can put that spring back in your step when preparing for heading outdoors.
Strength and Tone is a muscle building and conditioning course focusing on high repetitions and light weight to tone major muscle groups. This 45-minute class meets from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., Mondays beginning April 1, Memorial Conference Center, Ground Floor, Excela Westmoreland Hospital. Attendees use a variety of resistance bands and weights to improve and increase cardiovascular endurance as well as develop coordination and balance. The instructor will demonstrate each exercise at an appropriate pace with modifications for all fitness levels.
Interval training is one of the best ways to increase one’s overall endurance. This high/low interval class is perfect for anyone who is looking for a challenging workout without having to spend hours at the gym. This class will move through cardiovascular endurance and strength training, followed by 10-15 minutes of stretching. Class meets Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., starting April 1, Memorial Conference Center, Ground Floor, Excela Westmoreland Hospital.
Chair Fit mixes cardiovascular endurance and strength training in a low-impact exercise that focuses on maintaining the ability to complete activities of daily living. Class meets 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Mondays, beginning April 1, Memorial Conference Room, Ground Floor, Excela Westmoreland Hospital.
High-Intensity Interval Training is the latest fitness trend to incorporate a full body workout. During Intro to HIIT, participants will engage in an interval training sequence with moderate intensity exercises. This training helps build cardiovascular fitness while improving muscular strength and endurance. Classes last 45 minutes and are offered at Excela Square at Latrobe, 100 Excela Health Drive, 4 p.m., Tuesdays beginning April 2, and 3:45 p.m., Thursdays beginning April 4.
Healthy living is Core, so there is no better class. This 45-minute class meeting 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., Wednesdays beginning April 3, Memorial Conference Center, Ground Floor, Excela Westmoreland Hospital, focuses on improving balance, flexibility, stability and posture while gently strengthening the abdominal region and lower back.
A Body Sculpting and Core Conditioning class meets 4:30 p.m., Wednesdays, starting April 3, Memorial Conference Center, Ground Floor, Excela Westmoreland Hospital. This 45-minute class is designed to provide a full body workout. The routine will help strengthen the core, increase cardiovascular endurance, increase strength and improve flexibility. Workout is adapted to the participant’s skill level.
A one-hour Yoga class meets 5:15 p.m. Thursdays, beginning April 4, Auditorium A/B, First Floor, Excela Latrobe Hospital.
Class attendees should wear exercise clothes, and bring mat, athletic shoes and water.
