Crews have started to stabilize some homes in Hempfield. The Trib reports that the work is part of the federally-funded $6 million mine reclamation project meant to protect homes from mine subsidence. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland visited Bovard on Wednesday to tour the project and to announce another $244 million for reclamation of other abandoned Pennsylvania mine sites. There is no charge for homeowners who are taking part in the program.
