REGISTER OF WILLS TO RESIGN IN SEPTEMBER

Westmoreland County’s Register of Wills Sherry Magretti Hamilton will leave office four months early.  The Trib reports that county officials  yesterday confirmed that Hamilton said she will resign her elected position effective September 3^rd.  The three-term Republican office holder was stripped of her administrative duties last spring.  Hamilton previously agreed to leave December 31^st as part of a deal to avoid a potential jail sentence for contempt of court. Her early resignation is expected to save taxpayers about $29,000 this year.
