Irwin officials are considering a request from the borough fire department for a new fire safety inspection program. The Trib reports that it will be up for a vote at the next borough council meeting on Wednesday. The inspections would make sure among other things that smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are installed, making sure bedrooms meet building code requirements, and that exits, aisles and corridors are free from obstructions.
