Officials in Westmoreland County are preparing for coming winter weather that is likely now just around the corner. Greensburg Public Works Director Tom Bell says they have three-thousand tons of salt and are ready treat the city’s 50 miles of roads and 20 miles of alleys. The public works crew in Hempfield says they are prepared for snow and ice as well, buying 45-hundred tons of salt this year. Leaders with PennDOT say they are mostly ready for winter too but they still have plow operator positions and other jobs open in Washington, Fayette, Greene, and Westmoreland counties.
