Officials are urging people to stay off the frozen rivers in Pittsburgh. A number of individuals, including groups of children, where spotted on the Ohio River near The Point on Saturday, according to WTAE-TV. Last Friday, Pittsburgh EMS paramedic and River Rescue dive instructor Eric Capets warned that anyone who fell into the freezing water would be at serious risk of hypothermia and would lose dexterity in their extremities in only a couple of minutes. All traffic on the Allegheny River is shut down until March 1st because of the icy conditions.
