A local charity is setting up support for the city’s unhoused population during the NFL Draft. Jerrel Gilliam with Light of Life Rescue Mission says his organization is planning to host an event at the North Shore shelter where people can come for food and access to services during the draft later this month. Those who need assistance will be welcomed to a “Super Bowl party-like atmosphere” and treated with dignity, according to Gilliam. He says he is worried that the massive gathering downtown will alienate the homeless and make it difficult for them to get around. His planned effort is meant to help avoid some of those issues, according to Gilliam.
