Export has taken over a short stretch of Italy Road that goes through the borough. The Trib reports that this is part of PennDOT’s Turnback Program. Export officials sought to take control of Italy Road, and have about $200,000 in state grant funding available to put toward work on the sewage lines beneath the road. As part of the agreement, PennDOT agrees to pay for upgrades to the road and its accompanying infrastructure. In exchange, the borough will take over maintenance of the road.
