The Trump administration is working on a rescue package for Spirit Airlines and that deal is being closely watched by officials with the Westmoreland County Airport Authority. The Trib reports that under the terms of the agreement, the federal government could offer as much as $500 million in financing in exchange for warrants to purchase up to 90% of the new entity according to people speaking on condition of anonymity. County Commissioner Ted Kopas said that he’s not sure that the federal government owning an airline is the right answer Commissioner Sean Kertes said a bailout for Spirit may be good but there’s no guarantee to how the deal will be implemented. Airport Executive Director Gabe Monzo and Commissioner Doug Chew did not comment on the matter.
