A New Kensington man was convicted yesterday of assaulting an officer, strangulation, and other crimes for incidents in August of 2024 and April of 2025. The Trib reports that 44-year-old Luther Boyd was accused of assaulting a customer outside a convenience store in New Kensington and choking them until they were unconscious. Eight months later, police found him in a New Kensington apartment and officers said he assaulted them Boyd faces a potential state prison term when he is sentenced later this year, said Assistant District Attorney Jim Lazar.
