In 1963 Andrew Oldham stopped by London’s Crawdaddy Club to check out a new band called the Rolling Stones. He became their manager the following day.
In 1974 The Eagles released the album “On The Border.”
In 1978 Cheap Trick played their first of two shows at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. Material from the concert was later released as the album “Cheap Trick at Budokan,” which became the band’s breakthrough disc in the U.S.
In 2001 Tommy Lee won the rights to the name Methods of Mayhem. He had been sued by an audio company who claimed a trademark on the name.
In 2003 Apple launched its iTunes Music Store.
In 2015 Jack Ely died at the age of 71 after a long illness. The Kingman singer’s hit ‘Louie Louie’ reached the top of the charts in 1963 and sparked an FBI investigation into whether or not its lyrics were obscene.
In 2020 Bobby Lewis died at the age of 95. He was best known for his song “Tossin and Turnin.”
In 2023 Tim Bachman of Bachman-Turner Overdrive died of cancer at the age of 71.
