WESTMORELAND COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY LAYS OFF 25 EMPLOYEES AT ARNOLD PALMER REGIONAL AIRPORT

Westmoreland County Airport Authority officials had to lay off 25 employees at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in the wake of the closure of Spirit Airlines.  The Trib reports that not only did the closure strand travellers earlier this month, but it also left the airport without a commercial carrier.  TSA has given the airport a 90-day notice that they would be pulling out of the facility.  Work is also continuing on the airport expansion even though there is no current commercial carrier to use it.  Officials are still working on bringing in a new commercial carrier.
