MAWC FINALIZING PLANS TO PURCHASE WEST NEWTON SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County is finalizing plans to purchase the West Newton sewage treatment plant. The authority is buying the plant for one-point-two-million dollars and is also taking on over one-and-a-half-million dollars in debt associated with the facility. The monthly sewage rate of 50 dollars per property owner will remain the same for at least two years. The deal is expected to close on July 1st.
