An incoming storm caused John Mellencamp to abruptly stop his concert Sunday night in Phoenix, Arizona.
The greatest hits show was just six songs deep at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre before the band was escorted off stage as video monitors cut to a red “severe weather alert” advising fans to seek shelter in their vehicles. The National Weather Service office in Phoenix issued a dust storm warning with winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour, followed by severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings just a few hours later.
The performance resumed a little over an hour after the rain delay was issued, with Mellencamp joking “I didn’t know you guys had breezes like that.”
