Authorities say a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter involved in a midair collision near Carlisle Airport Wednesday evening in Cumberland County was hit from behind during routine training exercises. Acting State Police Commissioner George Bivens said a small airplane veered off course and hit a PSP chopper with two troopers onboard that was hovering near the runway. The pilot of the plane was pronounced dead at the scene, while the troopers are expected to recover. The investigation is ongoing.
