FIRE OFFICIALS VOICE SUPPORT FOR PROPERTY TAX REBATE

Fire officials have voiced their support of a property tax rebate for fire department members.  The Trib reports that members would be given up to $250 in property tax rebates as a way to have them stay with their respective departments.  Property-owning volunteers who serve as active members can qualify. Eligibility will be determined by a member’s role and call volume over the course of a year. Volunteers unable to respond to calls can also qualify based on years of service.  A special meeting to vote on the proposed ordinance will be held September 23rd at 12:30 PM at the county courthouse.
