JEANNETTE MAN CHARGED WITH FAILING TO STOP PITBULL FROM BITING K-9 OFFICER

A Jeannette man is charged with failing to stop his pitbull from biting a police K-9 officer in the neck while police were assisting in the search for a woman wanted by the FBI.  The Trib reports that the charges have been filed against Gino Ferrari.  Police said they had to use pepper spray and grab the dog’s collar choke to stop the attack on the dog helping with the search for a woman at an Adams Avenue home during a drug investigation.  K-9 officer Diesel came away with scratch marks and puncture wounds on the neck.  Ferarri is charged with intentional torture of a police dog, reckless endangerment and possessing a dangerous dog that kills or injures a domestic animal.  He is free on $25,000 bond with a preliminary hearing set for September 24th.
