WESTMORELAND COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY AWARDED GRANT MONEY TO BRING IN NEW COMMERCIAL AIRLINER

The Westmoreland County Airport Authority was awarded $850,000 to cover revenue guarantees to bring in a new commercial airline for Arnold Palmer Regional Airport.  The Trib reports that an unnamed airline sponsored the application for the airport.  This money would cover guarantees for an airline to resume service to Florida and to South Carolina.  The airport authority was one of 14 agencies awarded Small Community and Rural Air Service funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation.  Authority officials say no commitments are in place for future service, including a deal with the un-named carrier.
