BRIDGE CONNECTING SOUTH GREENSBURG AND HEMPFIELD BEING REPLACED

A bridge connecting South Greensburg and Hempfield will be replaced.  The Trib reports that the closure started Monday on Broadway Avenue and is expected to continue through next April.  The two communities are sharing the $1.2 million cost to replace the bridge.  The 100-year-old bridge over Slate Creek had been reduced to a one-lane route for the last ten years The project will completely replace the span and add a connection to the nearby Five Star Trail.
