HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS APPROVE PLANS FOR NEW GAS STATION

Hempfield Township Supervisors on Monday approved plans for a new gas station.  The Trib reports that the gas station and convenience store plan was submitted by MAPCO from Georgia for a location on Route 30 at Walton Tea Room Road across from Hempfield Pointe Plaza.  Township officials said that proper procedures were not followed when the plan was originally rejected in September.  Solicitor Scott Avolio previously said supervisors can only deny a plan if it fails to meet a relevant legal requirement, not just because they prefer the property not be developed as proposed.  The plan met all zoning and planning requirements.
