PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS PROPOSED REZONING OF FORMER SCI GREENSBURG SITE

A public hearing is being scheduled for December 16th to discuss proposed rezoning of the former SCI Greensburg site.  The Trib reports that officials want to move the property from regional commercial zoning to light industrial property to make it more appealing to buyers.  Officials have said most of the interest received for the property has been for a warehouse-type use. Changing the zoning to light industrial will allow for some additional commercial and retail uses.  Hempfield Township bought the property three years ago with the intent of demolishing the buildings and redeveloping the land.
