The Hempfield School District is trying to sell a house it acquired from the township about two years ago. The Trib reports that the district purchased 18 acres of land in January of 2024 for $430,000 that included a home off Route 136 on Sterling Run Lane. The district subdivided the land in March 2025, leaving the house on a 2.2-acre parcel, according to the petition, but it was declared unused and unnecessary for school purposes in August of last year. The home was listed for $199,900, according to the petition. It received seven offers, ranging from $175,000 to $235,000. The prospective buyers agreed to purchase the house as-is for $216,500. A court hearing surrounding the sale, before Judge Scott Mears, is slated for 9 a.m. Nov. 18.
