COUNTY COURT OFFICIALS CONCERNED OVER JURY DUTY NO-SHOWS

County Court officials are concerned about how many people are no-showing for jury duty.  The Trib reports that over the last 12 months, they held jury calls on 33 days, but an average of 23 jurors did not show up on those days.  Officials warned that a person who ignores a jury summons could be brought before a judge for a contempt of court hearing.  Those exempt from jury duty include 0active armed forces service members; reported for jury service within the last three years; have immediate family relationships to victims of criminal homicide; have prior service on a statewide investigating grand jury; residents age 75 and older; and others with hardship claims.
