PA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH REPORTS 55 NEW MEASLES CASES

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 55 new measles cases last Friday.  Officials said that 890 measles cases had been confirmed across 39 counties in the state so far for the year.  The outbreak has resulted in 173 hospitalizations statewide and four measles-related deaths.  Less than one-percent of cases have occurred in people vaccinated against measles.  State data shows 31-percent of cases in Pennsylvania are among people younger than 18.
