TODAY MARKS FIRST DAY OF WVU HEALTH SYSTEM

Today marks the first official day that Indpendence Hospitals are now under the banner of West Virginia University Health System.  The Trib reports that Westmoreland and Latrobe hospitals join Butler, Clarion and Frick hospitals in joining the system after it acquired Independence Health System.  The WVU Health System operates 25 hospitals and employs more than 39,000 people.  WVU Health System is now the second-largest health system operating in Pennsylvania, with UPMC is in the top spot.
