Another request for drop boxes for mail in ballots was rejected by the Westmoreland County Election Board. The Trib reports the motion to place the drop box on Pennsylvania Avenue was originally made by Ted Kopas, but it died for a lack of second. Residents had been asking for years to have the drop boxes return after they were used in the 2020 and 2021 elections. The county had the drop boxes installed at multiple locations during the two weekends before election day. In 2023, a drop box was put in place at the rear entrance of the courthouse. Commissioners Sean Kertes and Doug Chew said that the boxes were seldom used and not worth the cost to staff.
