MATT SOBECKI FIRE SAFETY DAY HAPPENING IN NEW KEN ON SATURDAY

An education effort dedicated to a late New Kensington volunteer firefighter is planned for this weekend. Matt Sobecki Fire Safety Day is happening in the 800 block of Barnes Avenue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Kids will learn about what they should do in a fire and will be able to see trucks and equipment. Sobecki was known for teaching children about firefighters and how to handle an emergency before he lost his battle with cancer in 2023.
