WESTMORELAND COUNTY CORONER IDENTIFIES WOMAN KILLED IN DERRY BOROUGH APARTMENT FIRE

Westmoreland County Coroner John Ackerman identified the woman who was killed last week in an apartment fire in Derry Borough.  The Trib reports that 58-year-old Carol Banko died in the fire that broke out around 10:45 PM on October 5th at the multi-tennant building on Brown Way behind Mossback Park.  She was declared dead just before 12:30 AM on the 6th.  Emergency officials said a hoarding situation in Banko’s apartment complicated efforts to extinguish the fire.
