WVU MEDICINE ANNOUNCES PLANS TO EXPAND SERVICE IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY

WVU Medicine has announced plans to expand service in Westmoreland County by locating its new medical helicopter at the Greensburg facility currently used by Stat MedEvac.  The Trib reports that the lease with Stat MedEvac expires April 30th of next year WVU Health System acquired the helicopter base once owned by Westmoreland Regional Hospital, when it bought Independence Health and its five hospitals in Greensburg, Latrobe, Mt. Pleasant, Butler and Clarion counties, as well as their outpatient facilities.  A seamless transition is expected.
