Salem township residents attending a supervisors meeting yesterday to express concerns about a natural gas well in the Forbes Road area were told there was little the township could do to regulate drilling operations. The Trib reports that the township has no zoning, and there are no rules to limit drilling to a specific area in the municipality, and the state Department of Environmental Protection reviews applications for gas permits and monitors the operations. The well in question is the one from JKLM Energy on a pad on the 56-acre farm owned by Tom Ridella.
