COOK TOWNSHIP MAN REMAINS IN JAIL ON HOMICIDE CHARGES IN CONNECTION WITH DEATH OF FATHER

A man from Cook Township remains in Westmoreland County Jail on charges of homicide in connection with the death of his father.  The Trib reports that 28-year-old Cody Laurence is facing charges  in connection with the death of his father, 59-year-old Edward Laurence Jr.  State police said Cody told them that he saw his father reaching for a gun in his waistband, and the two of them fought over it before it went off. Cody also said a pocketknife fell out of his sweatshirt during the struggle, so his father may have been stabbed.  Police said there was no plausible explanation of self-defense.  A formal arraignment is set for December 2nd.
